Guide In short: GEO pays off when your customers research and compare before buying, that is for complex services, in B2B and for higher order values. For walk-in purchases or very small markets the lever is smaller. A measurement shows within a few days whether it adds up for you. Good fit
When GEO pays off.
Complex services
People who buy a machine, software or consulting research first. That research increasingly happens in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overview.
B2B with longer decisions
Buyers and specialists have AI compare providers and draw up lists. If you are missing, you do not make the shortlist.
Higher order values
When a single order brings several thousand francs, the work pays off with just a few additional enquiries.
Competitors are already named
When AI recommends specific providers in your industry, just not you, the gap is measurable and usually closable.
Limits
When it rather does not.
Walk-in purchases
If you serve passing trade, your Google Business Profile and reviews do more than GEO.
Full order books
If you have no capacity for more enquiries, postpone the topic but keep an eye on it.
No SEO foundation
AI systems rely on pages that are easy to find in the search index. Without that foundation, SEO comes first.
In francs
A simple calculation.
You can roughly estimate the benefit before spending money:
Research queries per month × share in which you are named × enquiry rate × closing rate × order value
An example with assumed values, not a forecast: 200 research queries about your offer take place in AI systems each month. If you are named in 10 percent and every tenth mention leads to an enquiry, that is two enquiries per month. With a closing rate of 25 percent and an order value of CHF 20,000, that averages CHF 10,000 in revenue per month.
Query numbers cannot be read off directly. They are estimated from search volume, industry data and the measurement. This estimate is part of the free initial analysis.
Cost
What GEO costs.
Costs depend mainly on four things: how many questions are measured, how many languages and markets are involved, how readable the website is technically and how much work on third-party sources is needed. Few providers publish prices, and packages are hard to compare.
So compare offers with three questions: What exactly is included? Do you get the raw data of the measurement? What happens if a promised deliverable is missing? meit starts with a free initial analysis and a fixed-price 30-day sprint; we name the scope after the analysis.
Approach
How to check it for your company.
- Run the AI Check. In 30 seconds it shows whether you appear in 15 answers and who is named instead.
- Write down ten questions your customers ask before placing an order.
- Check which competitors are named and which sources the answers cite.
- Have the benefit estimated in Swiss francs before discussing an offer.
